Kedelhallerne Carlsberg Byene | Denmark

Efficient water management in Carlsberg Byen's boiler halls

At the heart of Carlsberg Byen, the listed Kedelhallerne from 1928 stands as a strong example of functional industrial architecture from the 1920s.

The listed building of 4,600 m² is now regaining its voice as Dansehallerne, a modern centre for contemporary dance and choreography. The award-winning renovation has preserved the building's raw, industrial soul and combined it with state-of-the-art functionality. Here, ACO's technical solutions play a crucial, albeit discreet, role in supporting the living cultural institution.

Diversion and purification

For the task, ACO has delivered a complete package of advanced water management systems.

Supports a responsible profile

Finally, the installations are completed with four ACO Access Covers. These covers allow the inlay of tiles or other coating for a uniform, aesthetic expression that matches the old neck's industrial design. Made of stainless steel with mechanical opening aids such as gas springs, they can be opened quickly without tools.

ACO's contribution supports the project's responsible profile and functionality through the ACO WaterCycle concept, which focuses on collecting and purifying water to protect the environment.

The Kedelhuset Building Foundation, with MIKKELSEN Arkitekter A/S as architects and VITA Ingeniører A/S as engineers, started in May 2022 and was completed in 2024. The turnkey contractor A/S Julius Nielsen & Søn was responsible for the execution, while KME Entreprenørfirma A/S handled the ground and sewer work, including the installation of ACO's products.

Kedelhallerne has received the City of Copenhagen's Building Award 2025 and has been nominated for Arne of the Year 2025.
